到4月份，两拨红眼飞蝉将破土而出，美国中西部和东南部的居民应该做好准备，迎接这些嗡嗡作响的昆虫的到来。

据康涅狄格大学称，蝉群经常同时出现，但2024年将是200多年来首次发生13年蝉和17年蝉同时出现的现象。下一次这些蝉群同时出现还要再等221年。 　　

十几年来，这些蝉一直蛰伏在地下洞穴中，直到它们成熟才破土而出。在准备出洞的前几周，这些昆虫会开辟通往地面的隧道，但要等到7至8英寸（1英寸约合2.5厘米）深的土壤温度达到华氏64度（约合17摄氏度）左右时才会出洞。（编译/杨雪蕾）
